Looking Up!

Wow! It’s the end of the month…and what a month it was. So many positive things are happening in the world of internet marketing and here, at CF Web Professionals, we are busting at the seams with excitement!

Ghost…

When it comes to web marketing, being invisible is not a good thing. You see on so many websites that there is nothing about who they are.

Personally, I will not do business with a company that does not have information about themselves on their website.  I get the feeling that they are hiding something that they don’t what me to know about.

In order for your visitor to feel comfortable enough to do business with you, you need to be visible and show authenticity (or as our client, Coach Maggie from Called to Action says, “Be who you say you are”).

Big Splash…

It’s late in the evening, you’re looking over your books and you say to yourself, with a big sigh “things are not looking very good”. In your mind you go over your marketing plan, trying to find an answer as to why it’s not working. You then make a mental checklist of all the marketing things you are using and what it’s costing you…. Continue reading

Giving Back…

Many of you may not know this, but for the past 4 years (since October 2006), we have, with the help of other businesses and members of the community, shown support to the men and women in our military. This is our passion. Nothing political - just compassion! We don' t have to agree with the government, or the reasoning behind why our troops are where they are - we just have to show the men and women (the individuals) that we support them and their families left at home. Center Stage

Social Media is not a production to where you need an acting degree. However, I see so many people getting into character, putting on their makeup, adjusting their wig, and adding that fake voice before engaging in the social media… Continue reading

Are You a CopyCat?

We frequently get asked the question “Is the content on my website copyrighted”. The answer: There are things in your website that falls under the copyright protection laws. However, before you go and accuse someone of copyright violations – consult an attorney.

Yes, your content can fall under Copyright Laws. You spent a lot of time writing content for your website for the purpose of promoting your products and/or services – you may have even hired a copywriter to help you develop your content…only to find that someone just copied your content and placed it on their website as theirs.  The natural progression of feelings is you first become very angry that someone stole your hard work and tried to pass it off as their own…then as time passes you say to yourself, “Man, I must have really done a great job, that someone else copied what I did”. The 2nd feeling doesn’t lessen the fact of what the copycat did.

Artificial Intelligence! Google?

What is artificial intelligence?

It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable. ~ John McCarthy
Is Google developing their search engine to be some type of artificial intelligence that can predict what you are searching for?  What’s next – talking to your computer and telling it what you are looking for?  If you were a “Trekkie” (Star Trek fan), that’s what they did all the time! Some of the things that they did on that show are things we are using today, in some form or another. Was Gene Rodenberry ahead of his time?

Commit to Submit…

If you’ve been around the internet long enough, I’m sure you have probably seen someone say something along these lines “We will submit your website to Google and other Search Engines and make you #1!”

We have found that a lot of people think that this signifies that company works for or is a partner with the search engines like Google. They have the “in” with the search engines…and if they submit your website to the search engines that you will definitely be found in a search.
Let me just say, none of us has any special “in or pull” with the search engines. The search engines’ algorithm to position websites is their trade secret. Over time companies that specialize in website placement have learned what it takes to have a website positioned high in the search engines.

Misleading Faxes and Emails – Don’t fall victim!

Watch your emails, faxes and snail mail…read them closely. They look legit, until you read the very fine print. The most current scheme that has been brought to our attention is from a company outside of the US trying to make us think they are the Real Yellow Pages.
Real Story…
One of our clients called us a few months back asking us to look over a letter he was faxed from a company that portrayed themselves as YellowPage-Florida. This letter looked legit and even had all of our client’s information on it that would be needed for a true yellow page ad listing. This fax was asking him for keywords and phrases for them to use in his yellow page ad with them. The instructions stated to look over the form and make whatever changes needed to be made and fax it back to them. At first glance, there was nothing in this fax that appeared suspicious. The only thing that caught our eye was very fine print at the bottom, where it stated that there would be an $89.00 per month charge for 2 years – just to submit his information to Google. Nothing else, just submit it.  After reviewing the letter, I had advised him not to take action.

Business Advertising – Stuck in a rut?

Are you looking for more business but don’t really know what type of marketing will work to attract new customers?

The yellow fingers are telling you that the Yellow Pages are the future for marketing on the internet and print media. They tell you that being in the Yellow Pages will give you great exposure and your business will rank high in the search engines. However, in reality you are finding out that the Yellow Book is mostly being used as a door stop or as a booster seat for children.  Now, as for the internet listings they offer… Yellow Book and/or Super Pages have to rely on the search engines to be found, before you can be
found.   The same goes for you website. So why should you go through a 3rd party to have to be found on the internet, only to be listed with your competitors on the same page? How beneficial is that? Continue reading
