Authenticity in the Workplace

In order for CF Web Professionals to “grow”, I found it was necessary for me to embark on some of my own growth through personal development . Nothing worse than your company growing and expanding around you while you are sitting stagnant with the same “small thoughts”.

Time to take action…

I decided it was time for me to call “Coach Maggie” of Called to Action, and go to a workshop she was presenting called The Path. This was a full day “boot-camp” with other like minded women.  One of our goals was to create a personal mission statement for ourselves. (I highly recommend this workshop to ALL business owners, as well as their employees – I got so much out of it).

My mission statement is:

“Embrace, Demonstrate & Inspire Authenticity in the Marketplace”.
Now the challenge is, how do I live out and accomplish my mission?

  • Step 1:  EmbraceRedesign our website, to reflect more of who “we are”. Still working on some of the content to make it more personal, opposed to corporate-sounding.  Successful websites are never complete, they should always be a “work in progress” evolving with the growth of your company.
  • Step 2: DemonstrateRevamped our blog, and will start writing more blog articles to let people really know who “we” are. (starting with this blog article)
  • Step 3: InspireProvide more seminars to educate the business community about  the truths of internet marketing, and to explain the difference between the truisms and the hype.

Today, I got an email from a friend that seems to fit right in with my mission statement. “Nothing ruins the truth like stretching it”.  I’m not sure who said this, but it hits home to me.

Authenticity and truth should go hand in hand. Being on the internet makes it so easy for people to NOT be authentic, with the ability to hide behind anonymity.

I challenge each of our readers to be authentic in the workplace both offline and online. A dear friend of mine always says “BE WHO YOU SAY YOU ARE”

If you’d like to learn how to bring authenticy into your web presence, call me. I’d love to help you!

Thanks for your comment Maggie. I can only hope that other business owners will take advantage and go to your workshop like I did. I feel energized and empowered to do what I need to do in order to take our business to the next level.
