Facebook…Are You Engaging?

Out of curiousity… are the Social Media platforms helping your business?  Are your “peeps” that like your Facebook business page, engaging with you?

I have been browsing around quite a few Facebook business pages, only to see so many small… Continue reading

Yet another major privacy breach for FaceBook?

Yes it has happened again!  FaceBook has opened the door for hackers to be able to retrieve the user’s information, that’s your information. (Read article on Fox News).  Facebook has vowed to have this breach fixed by… Continue reading

Start Conversating…

Is that a typo? Start doing what?

I’ll say it again.  Start conversating! I know, sound’s like I’m being silly or trying to be cute! BUT, for those of you that know me, know that I use that phrase quite frequently. We all know there’s no such word as “conversating”, but the meaning behind what I’m saying IS serious business.

Using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other forms of Social Media, the idea is to build relationships. The only way to do that is to engage in conversations with others. One sided conversations don’t work too well.

The Power of the Like Button?

Everyone that uses FaceBook has seen or used the “like button”. It’s a way of telling the person that posted something on their wall that you like or agree with what they are saying and want to share it with your friends. The same goes for when you re-tweet a tweet
 on Twitter.
But there may be more to that “like button” and the retweet than the eye can see. We all know that Google, Bing and Yahoo don’t show their full hand on the inner workings of their searches. There is a great possibility that the search engines are using the “like button” and the retweet as backlinks.
SEO backlinks play an important part on how a website will rank in the search engines. Google, Bing and Yahoo works very hard on determining if the backlinks which website owners use are good or bad links. There are so many backlinks that are actually a form of spam, which makes it very difficult to determine if they are good or not.

Our Experiment…

How important is blogging and social media to your business?
In June of this year I decided to experiment and increased our blogging – by writing on an average of 3 to 5 blogs per week and then posted them to FaceBook and Twitter. The blog articles where mostly geared to our business sector and informed our readers on problems with solutions, statistics, and future development of internet web marketing.
By doing so, some remarkable things happened to us and our business!

You Spoke…We Listened!

Social Media Marketing has gained quite a bit of traction in recent months. It has made it easier for consumers to pass on information about companies and their products or services.

More and more businesses are beginning to understand the need to have a Social Media presence. We have talked to many business owners about what they are doing (and not doing)… and their concerns when it comes to using social media for their marketing.
Here are a few things that business owners have expressed a concern about:
  • How do I get started? I have no clue where to start.
  • How much time is involved? I don’t have all day to play on the computer.
  • How much is it going to cost? My marketing budget is limited.
  • When will I see results?
  • What Social Media platform do I need to use? Continue reading

Annoying Habits on Facebook.

Do you annoy people while you’re on FaceBook?
Let me explain what I consider “annoying or irritating”.

Social Networking….Privacy

I’m sure you’ve seen over the last few days that FaceBook encountered some problems with the sharing of user information.  Now congress has stepped in and is asking questions about FaceBook’s privacy policies.  Hmmm…now the government wants to get
involved?
Ok folks, let’s face some reality here. FaceBook is a social network where you share tons of information. Yes, it is wrong that the some of the gaming developers passed on user information, but in defense of FaceBook, they did issue a stern warning about sharing user information.
Have we seen the end of this problem?  My best guess is…no. We have not seen the end of things like this. FaceBook, along with the other social networks, will always have one sort of problem or another with user’s information.
So what do you do?  If you troubled with the possibility of your information leaking out, then stay out of the social networking arena, it’s that simple.  However, if you can’t live without social networking, my advice to you is, only give out the information that you want the whole world to see. Social Media, IT’S FREE?

How free is social media? You hear so many marketers saying that social media is free – there is nothing to buy. You go to YouTube, FaceBook and Twitter and it doesn’t cost you a thing to sign up,  “It’s FREE”. Yes when the marketers say it’s free, they
are right in the sense that signing up for social media is free. But is social media really free?
You have heard the clichés “Time Is Money” and “How Much is Your Time Worth?” Continue reading
