Start Conversating…

Is that a typo? Start doing what?

I’ll say it again.  Start conversating! I know, sound’s like I’m being silly or trying to be cute! BUT, for those of you that know me, know that I use that phrase quite frequently. We all know there’s no such word as “conversating”, but the meaning behind what I’m saying IS serious business.

Using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other forms of Social Media, the idea is to build relationships. The only way to do that is to engage in conversations with others. One sided conversations don’t work too well.

The Power of the Like Button?

Everyone that uses FaceBook has seen or used the “like button”. It’s a way of telling the person that posted something on their wall that you like or agree with what they are saying and want to share it with your friends. The same goes for when you re-tweet a tweet
 on Twitter.
But there may be more to that “like button” and the retweet than the eye can see. We all know that Google, Bing and Yahoo don’t show their full hand on the inner workings of their searches. There is a great possibility that the search engines are using the “like button” and the retweet as backlinks.

Social Media Marketing has gained quite a bit of traction in recent months. It has made it easier for consumers to pass on information about companies and their products or services.

More and more businesses are beginning to understand the need to have a Social Media presence. We have talked to many business owners about what they are doing (and not doing)… and their concerns when it comes to using social media for their marketing.
Here are a few things that business owners have expressed a concern about:
  • How do I get started? I have no clue where to start.
  • How much time is involved? I don’t have all day to play on the computer.
  • How much is it going to cost? My marketing budget is limited.
  • When will I see results?
  • What Social Media platform do I need to use? Continue reading

Social Media, IT’S FREE?

How free is social media? You hear so many marketers saying that social media is free – there is nothing to buy. You go to YouTube, FaceBook and Twitter and it doesn’t cost you a thing to sign up,  “It’s FREE”. Yes when the marketers say it’s free, they
are right in the sense that signing up for social media is free. But is social media really free?
You have heard the clichés “Time Is Money” and “How Much is Your Time Worth?” Continue reading

If you were to compare social media to other marketing tactics, like TV, Radio or Print you might say yea, it’s free, there’s no cash outlay. My question still stands though. Is it really free? Not in my opinion! Continue reading
